Karen Sopko brings iDealReview her extensive background in information technology and telecommunications deal-making. She acts as executive editor and "top dog" of the iDealReview journal.
Ms. Sopko’s expertise includes domestic and international business development for Global 1000 clients in IT, and Telecommunications. Her background includes work as employee and consultant for companies like Dell, EDS, and Alcatel. Ms. Sopko brings an in-depth understanding of the desktop outsourcing market, and success in service development with EDS.
Ms. Sopko was part of a small team of engagement leaders launching EDS’ desktop outsourcing services, culminating in the company’s 1995 entry into the PC arena. Prior to her experience at EDS, she managed the proposals process for Alcatel Network Systems during the French conglomerate's bid to enter the British telecommunications market. As Manager Bid Process, Ms. Sopko established the group as a credible player through hundreds of technical proposals to British Telecom, MCI, Mercury, and Energis. She was also a key team member in developing the business alliances for bringing Alcatel’s HDSL product line to the United Kingdom.
Karen Sopko started her entrepreneurial career with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1990, opening a new Residence Center in upstate New York. Despite the remote location and challenging local economy, Ms. Sopko's innovative techniques and business acumen quickly turned the center into a financial success. In 1997, she also co-Founded an early Internet services company, delivering interactive entertainment at low-bandwith to customers in the US and Europe.
Karen lives in Austin, Texas. She holds a dual-degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Florida. She is a member of the IEEE, American Physics Society, WITI, and has trained as Dale Carnegie Training Instructor. She is currently working on a ground-breaking white paper and article series for the next phase of the Outsourcing business model.
